CHRIS & LIBBY DOUGLASS, OWNERS

Chris and Libby’s shared mission for CrossFit Westport is to transform the lives of their members physically, mentally, and emotionally through Fitness, Family, and Fun.

They discovered their passion for CrossFit more than 12-years ago and its competitive and community aspects of the sport is what they strive to bring to all of their members at CrossFit Westport.

It is our goal to help our members live a healthy, happy and productive life and we look forward to having you as part of our Fitness Family.

Chris was a competitive soccer player throughout college and a two-time NJCAA Men’s Soccer National Champions at Herkimer County Community College. After his soccer career ended Chris found CrossFit 12-years ago in the back of a global-gym.  After getting humbled by the benchmark WOD ‘Cindy’ that was his warm-up he fell in love with the sport. 

Over the last 6-years Chris has been coaching throughout New York City and is excited to share his passion with the members of CrossFit Westport.   He is married to Coach Libby and they have a beautiful daughter.

Libby has been in athletics her entire life.  Cheering D1 in College and moving on to coach AllStar Cheerleading teams.

After a 14 year career in marketing, Libby too a leap of faith and quit her corporate job to coach CrossFit full time and share her passion for health and wellness with others.  After coaching at CrossFit Wall Street for 3 years, Libby and Chris moved to CT.

Rhett grew up playing all kinds of sports, but he stuck with baseball throughout high school and college.  After college, he was doing the whole globo gym thing and was really missing the team aspect of training/playing, which is how he came to find CrossFit.

Rhett started CrossFit in 2015 and was hooked right away.  He really enjoyed how everyone goes through a workout together, and no matter how long or short you’ve been training, the feeling at the end of a workout is always the same for everyone!

Jess has spent most of his life involved in high level athletics. In 2000, he was the Connecticut state high school long jump champion, third in state hurdles and went on to become All State, all New England and All American, and was also ranked as one of the top scorers in the state in soccer.

Jess furthered his track and field career in college NCAA track and field. After an injury late in his college career, he began strength training and found a love of training with others, which ultimately led him to become a Physical Education and Health teacher. He has been teaching for nearly 17 years.

Jess has over 12 years of experience in coaching varsity track and field, winning numerous SCC titles, LL state championships and has sent many athletes to high level competitions, such as High School Nationals.  Jess is also involved in many sport leagues, such as volleyball, softball, obstacle course racing, alumni track competitions, flag football, and more. You name it, Jess will join you to play it!

Missing his love of competition, Jess found crossfit in his mid thirties and has not looked back since. Working out with others, training hard and crushing goals is something he was missing and found rewarding in crossfit.

Jess spends his free time traveling,  enjoying recreation activities, like tennis, beach volleyball, skiing, snowboarding, paddleboarding, and boating.
